Watch The ‘babes In Africa

06 March 2007 | Categories: Sugababes | Permalink

Heidi & Keisha joined Kimberley from Girls Aloud in a trip to a township on the outskirts of Durban, South Africa. Click here to watch a short film of their exerpience among the local people who are struggling with poverty and disease.

Did you know that more people have died in Africa from AIDS than all those killed in the Tsunami? It’s just one of the huge problems facing the people of Africa.

Comic Relief’s work both in Africa and the UK is essential and they can’t do it without your help. Heidi, Keisha and Kimberley were all emotionally touched by the problems they saw in Africa first hand and by the determination of the local people to survive.

Every one of us can help - buy a red nose, visit www.rednoseday.com to find out how you can fundraise and tune into BBC 1 on Red Nose Day on March 16th to give your support.

Keisha Considers Adoption

01 March 2007 | Categories: Keisha | Permalink

Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan was so moved by street children she met during a recent trip to South Africa that she wants to adopt.

The ‘Push The Button’ singer burst into tears after meeting 12-year-old Nokwanda, a rape victim from Durban who has been abandoned by her family.

Buchanan recalled: “She said, ‘I wish you could visit all the time, why do you have to go?’ It broke my heart. What can you say to that? I know I will see her lovely face in my dreams forever.

“Meeting children like her makes me understand why Madonna felt compelled to adopt. It is definitely something I would consider one day.”

How To Get Self-Confidence & Use It

01 March 2007 | Categories: Amelle | Permalink

Amelle is one of the many celebrities who have offered their advice to an article on how to get self-confidence and use it.

She said: “Be strong and confident and, if anyone says anything bad about you, learn you can’t take it personally, because that person doesn’t even know you.”

“Just carry on doing what you’re doing and don’t take it personally, you don’t even have to prove yourself. Do what you love and do what you think is the best. I know it’s hard to ignore someone saying something bad about you, because it does hit a nerve in you and you do get upset, but you’ve got to lift your chin up and just keep going.”

Arena Tour Support Act Announced

28 February 2007 | Categories: Sugababes | Permalink

New pop/electro/rock band DRAGONETTE have announced that they will be supporting the Sugababes on their fourthcoming Arena tour in March and April this year. Although the band have yet to release a single in the UK they have already been tipped for big things. At the start of the year PopJustice labelled them as “your new favourite band” and were The Guardian’s “band of the day” on Tuesday.

PopJustice’s praise certainly rings true with us at SugababesUK.com as we have had Dragonette’s songs on repeat for weeks. If you’d like to know more about the band and hear their music visit their official website www.dragonette.com or their official MySpace page www.myspace.com/dragonetteband

The band’s debut single I Get Around will be released in the UK on April 30th.
