The Sugababes spend a fourth week at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart this week with About You Now. In the Official UK Albums Chart Change fell just one place this week to #2.
About You Now looks set to spend a fourth week at the top of the UK Singles Chart this week. It is currently 5,000 copies ahead of Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse at #2. Meanwhile, Change looks set to slip just one place in the UK Albums Chart to #2.
The Sugababes have topped BOTH the Official UK Albums and Singles Chart this week. About You Know spends its fourth week at the top of the singles chart, while the fifth studio album from the ‘babes debuts at #1 in the album chart.
This is the second time the Sugababes have topped both the album and singles chart simultaneously. In 2005 they did the double with Push The Button and Taller In More Ways.
They are also #1 this week on the Download Chart.
Congratulations babes!
In the midweek chart this week the Sugababes look set to do a double whammy and top both the singles AND the albums chart! This will be another fantastic achivement for the ‘babes if they can stay at the top until Sunday. Check back here then to see if they managed to do it. Until then make sure you’ve got your copy of the album and if you haven’t bought the single yet now is the time to do so.
The Sugababes spend a second week at the top of the UK Official Singles Chart this week with About You Now - congratulations girls. Meanwhile, in the album charts Overloaded: The Singles Collection rises to #43.
With the new album out tomorrow let’s hope they can have a double whammy next week like they did in 2005.
In this week’s midweek chart About You Now is holding strongly onto the #1 position, with sales exceeding 17,000. Ida Corr at #2 has sold only 8,700 in comparison. If you haven’t yet bought your CDs and 7” make sure you do so before the end of the week. Overloaded: The Singles Collection is also holding up well in the album charts too at #48 in the midweeks.
About You Now is the UK’s official #1 single this week! It has charted through the sales on digital downloads alone, thank you to everyone who purchased the single this week. Here’s some chart facts about the song:
• It is the Sugababes’ sixth number one, after: Freak Like Me, Round Round, Hole In The Head, Push The Button, and Walk This Way.
• It is the fourth song in UK chart history to go to #1 through download sales alone (after Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, Grace Kelly by Mika, and Umbrella by Rihanna).
• The Sugababes are the first UK group to get to #1 on download sales alone.
• The song has broken a record previous made in 1982 for the highest jump to #1 from within the top 40. They rose 34 places this week to the #1 spot.
The CD and 7” versions of the single are out tomorrow, featuring new b-sides Rocks and In Recline.
In other chart news, About You Now has risen to #4 in the UK Airplay Charts, and Overloaded: The Singles Collection has risen to #50 in the Official UK Albums Chart.
According to Shanye Ward’s MySpace page the Sugababes are currently #1 by only 200 copies. To make sure they officially chart at #1 on Sunday please continue to buy the Radio Edit and the remixes from your favourite legal download site.
