Bizarre, The Sun’s showbiz column, has a weekly podcast with celebrity interviews and performances. This week there’s an interview with the Sugababes about their new album and recent tabloid rumours. To download the podcast for free click here and visit The Sun’s website.
About You Now is currently #39 in the midweek chart - based on download sales of the remixes alone! This is an amazing achivement for the ‘babes, and looks like the proper version of the single will do very well once it is released digitally on Monday and on 2xCD and 7” on October 1st.
On October 1st from 7am the Sugababes will be guests on GM:TV on ITV1, and on October 3rd between 10am & 12:45pm the ‘babes will be performing on Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
AMELLE Berrabah has found fame to be “brutal” since she became a Sugababe. The sexy singer opened her heart on false reports the girlband are set to replace her, in what would be their third line-up change.
As former member Mutya Buena, 22, performed at the MOBOs, Amelle, 23, said: “What’s shocked me most is how brutal people can be. I’m just trying to keep my head down and get on with it. Before I joined the band I used to think Keisha and Mutya were horrible to Heidi, but now I’ve joined it’s really strange how we can be having a great time then stories appear saying I’m leaving. I was on holiday, Keisha was on holiday and Heidi was in Hell’s Kitchen when this appeared. We were all excited to come back, start a new thing and then it’s boom, here we go again. It’s strange to us because we know we get along with each other and we’re good friends.”
Supportive bandmate Heidi Range, 24, who herself replaced original member Siobhan Donaghy, 23, backed up her comments. She said: “It’s a bit boring, and disappointing too, because it’s the beginning of a new album - a fresh start. But that’s always going to follow Sugababes. Keisha’s been in Sugababes for 10 years - that’s how long the band’s been going. The fact two girls have left in 10 years isn’t a big deal. Think about any other job and people leave all the time. People are never going to believe that we get on. The weekend we were allegedly auditioning new members, our band was learning our new tracks, that’s it.”
Back to business, the Babes’ new album Change, out on October 8, is a fine collection of pop.
Heidi added: “One of our favourite tracks is Back Down, which is a reggae song that we did with Novel, who worked with Joss Stone.”
Amelle agreed: “We hope it’s going to be a single. We all love all the album but this one really sticks out a bit.”
