FIRST she quit Sugababes - now Mutya Buena is preparing to launch her very own label. The Real Girl is so passionate about her music she is hoping to set up a record company to “represent the underground”. Mutya, 22, told me: “Having my own label’s been in my head from the very beginning, representing the underground with mix CDs. I want to be able to keep putting stuff out in an underground way. I need to promote that scene as well.”
he teeny diva, who releases new single Just A Little Bit on October 22, is also keen to help out those pals who are still waiting for their big break.

Keisha and Mutya attended the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards separately this week. Mutya was one of the performers, and she was also a nominee for Best Newcomer, which she unfortunately did not win. She performed her hit single Real Girl along with the album track Suffer For Love. During the performance Keisha was standing up at her table, dancing and singing along, as the pictures below demonstrate.
Last month we told you how the Sugababes have covered the song Betcha By Golly Wow for a new Radio 1 compilation CD. (Read the full story here).
We can now tell you that the song is going to have its first play on Radio 1 on Thursday 27th September on Edith Bowman’s show, which is on 1pm - 4pm.
Mutya’s version of Fast Car will have its first play on Friday 21st September on Sara Cox’s show, which is on 1pm - 4pm.
Radio 1 is preparing to celebrate 40 years at the top with an amazing anniversary treat. The cream of UK talent, plus a couple of adopted Brits, have been rounded up to record a hit from each year the music station has been going.
The Sugababes have recorded a cover of the 1972 hit Betcha By Golly Wow originally recorded by The Stylistics.
Also on the CD will be Mutya’s cover of Fast Car, the 1988 hit by Tracey Chapman.
Mutya has been nominated in three categories in the 2007 Urban Music Awards. She’s up for Best R&B Act 2007 (against Sadie Ama, Lemar, Jamelia, Nathan, & Jay Sean), Most Inspiring Act 2007 (against Sadie Ama, Dizzee Rascal, Cherry Blackstone, Jamelia, & Kele le Roc), and Best Crossover Chart Act (against Corrine Bailey Rae, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson, Just Jack, & Raghav).

Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) has risen to #8 on this week's Official UK Singles Chart. The position is slightly disappointing, however it's another top 10 hit for Mutya.
Mutya's next single is expected to be Just A Little Bit.
