Tour Gets Off To A Flying Start

Keisha, Heidi, and Amelle took to the stage at Dublin Point last night, belting out some of their biggest hits and slipping in a few surprises too! One of our forum members imelda has given her account of the night, including pictures and the setlist. You can view it all HERE.

The Sugababes Are Dolls… No Really

Mattel has teamed up with girl band the Sugababes to create a new themed Barbie doll collection, which will hit stores in May.

Launched in this month’s Toy News, Mattel UK MD Jean-Christophe Pean commented on the new collection: “Barbie is having a phenomenal start to the year, increasing her share for the last seven months with double digit growth every week in 2007.  This exciting collaboration will bring another hot band into the Barbie portfolio, building on the success that we had with Girls Aloud in 2005.  Barbie is yet again at the cutting of edge of what is hot in a girls’ world; her interests, aspirations and dreams.  Sugababes are the top selling female act of the century, what better company is there for the top-selling doll?”

The Sugababes Styled by Barbie collection has been created based on the band’s own look and the fashion trends of the season - voluminous shapes, embroidery and embellishment.  The doll collection comprises a set of three individually designed Barbie dolls, each with an accessory personal to the band member.

Extensive marketing support will include a unique TV commercial featuring the band and widespread media activity plus exclusive interviews with the girls.

Arena Tour Kicks Off Tonight

The Sugababes’ Greatest Hits Arena Tour kicks off tonight at Dublin Point and will continue for the next few weeks at arenas across the UK. Supported by Dragonette and Laura Critchley the tour promises to be the Sugababes’ most amazing tour yet. Chart Update

Walk This Way has fallen one place in the Official UK Singles Chart this week to #2.

Comic Relief Auction Total

Recently we told you about the special Comic Relief auctions the Sugababes were involved in. They were giving fans the chance to bid on tickets to see them at four dates on their forthcoming arena tour - and the chance to meet the ‘babes in person too. The auctions have now ended and here’s how much each of the tickets went for:

• London - £515.00
• Newcastle - £422.03
• Cardiff - £410.00
• Dublin - £510.00

Bringing the grand total from these auctions to £1,857.03 - all of which will go to Comic Relief and help those in need around the UK and in Africa. Congratulations to the four winners who will not only get to watch the Sugababes perform and meet them in person but have contributed a lot of money towards life saving projects.

Number One

Walk This Way has entered the Official UK Singles Chart straight at #1 tonight! The single follows in the footsteps of Freak Like Me, Round Round, Hole In The Head and Push The Button and becomes the Sugababes’ fifth #1 single. Congratulations girls, and thank you to everyone who bought a copy this week and helped the Comic Relief cause.

According to PopJustice Walk This Way is currently #1 in the UK midweek chart! That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out and get your copy of the single if you haven’t done so already, since every copy sold will raise money for the Comic Relief fund. Also, according to MTV the single is only 700 copies ahead of Gwen Stefani who is currently #2, so please help the Sugababes maintain their lead.

New Mutya Live Date

Mutya will be performing at London’s Borderline on Wednesday 4th April. Tickets are on sale now.

Watch The ‘babes In Africa

Heidi & Keisha joined Kimberley from Girls Aloud in a trip to a township on the outskirts of Durban, South Africa. Click here to watch a short film of their exerpience among the local people who are struggling with poverty and disease.

Did you know that more people have died in Africa from AIDS than all those killed in the Tsunami? It’s just one of the huge problems facing the people of Africa.

Comic Relief’s work both in Africa and the UK is essential and they can’t do it without your help. Heidi, Keisha and Kimberley were all emotionally touched by the problems they saw in Africa first hand and by the determination of the local people to survive.
