London's Institute of Contemporary Arts is to host free gigs every night in the month of July with acts including Mika, Mutya, Amy Winehouse and Stereophonics. More than 60 acts, ranging from major stars to newcomers, will play intimate sets in the ICA's 350-seat theatre. Other performers include Editors, Travis, Groove Armada, Ash and Athlete.
Tickets for the iTunes Festival will be offered via a lottery system, and every concert will be recorded and made available to buy on iTunes. Crowded House will also be playing one of their first London gigs after more than a decade apart.
The ICA has supported music acts for the past 60 years, including The Clash's debut gig when they were still unsigned in the '70s. It has also hosted The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Pet Shop Boys, The Stone Roses, Sonic Youth, Franz Ferdinand, Suede and The Beastie Boys. The institute's artistic director, Ekow Eshun, said: "Live music has always been at the heart of what the ICA does. We really wanted to mark that history during our 60th anniversary." He added that the festival would present "31 days of free gigs from some of the most exciting, hottest acts around in Britain today".

"I've already explained to people: I will not hold back my mouth for no one," announces Mutya Buena, with the sort of no-nonsense defiance you'd expect from a girl who sports a diamond stud above her lip. "At the end of the day, I've kept quiet for the past two years, and I've not said nothing. I could have if I wanted to, but I don't believe in blagging."
Buena is determined to set the record straight - but she's endearingly good-humoured about it all. Yes, she'll tell it like it is, but no, she's not a bitch. She doesn't hate new babe Amelle Berrabah ("I have never once said that she is a clone because, one, she doesn't sound like me, and, two, she doesn't look like me") and certainly didn't use her baby daughter, Tahlia, as an excuse to leave the band. "Obviously, I'm going to choose my daughter over my career," she reasons. "My career means a lot to me, but it doesn't mean that much."
Things have always seemed tumultuous with the Sugas ever since original member Siobhan Donaghy bid farewell in 2001 amid claims that she was being bullied. Even when Heidi Range joined the crew, Buena admits she didn't initially warm to her. But now that the 22-year-old is on the other side, she can see things a lot more clearly. "Now that I'm not with the Sugababes, I realise that we are very different people and I think it actually takes for you to move on with your life to realise certain things. We are totally different people. I can see where we would clash."

QUEEN have topped a list of bands people WISH they had been in. The Bohemian Rhapsody rockers fronted by the late Freddie Mercury beat The Beatles into second place.
In the poll of 1,000 people by bar chain Walkabout, most said the buzz of a live show would be the best thing about being in a band. But only 29 per cent wanted to be lead singer.
Top 10: 1 Queen; 2 The Beatles; 3 Pink Floyd; 4 The Spice Girls; 5 The Sugababes; 6 U2 and Take That; 8 The Jam; 9 Rolling Stones; 10 Oasis.
